finding us

Vila Real, capital of the province of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro, is the largest city in the Douro Wine Region. It is home to approximately 30,000 inhabitants and provides all the services you would expect from a major town: cultural activities, shopping, cafés and restaurants, as well as the essential hospitals, clinics and chemists.
Check out our Things to Do page for further information about the area.

Casa Agrícola da Levada is located in the northern part of Vila Real, 2.5 km/1.5 miles from the town’s historical centre. Finding us can be a bit tricky as not all GPS devices will guide you correctly to us. We suggest you print our map with directions to bring as backup.

If you use a GPS system, make sure it is directing you to Vila Real and use only the following information:
Google Maps and Waze: Casa Agrícola da Levada Eco Village, Vila Real
ViaMichelin, TomTom, Garmin, Magellan and others: Praça 25 de Abril, Vila Real. Then follow directions from point B on our map above.

Getting to Casa Agrícola da Levada:

From Oporto Airport (Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport):
Take the A4 motorway to Vila Real (blue signs) to exit 21 marked Vila Real/IP4, after passing through the Marão Tunnel. Stay on the IP4 until exit 26, marked Vila Real/Norte, then follow the From Exit 26 off the IP4 Motorway directions below.

From Viseu:
Take the A24 motorway Northbound to exit 14 marked Vila Real-Norte/IP4 (green sign). Stay on the IP4 until exit 26, marked Vila Real/Norte, then follow From Exit 26 off the IP4 Motorway directions below.

From Exit 26 off the IP4 Motorway (marked as “A” on the map):
At the first roundabout, go straight. At the second roundabout (“B” on the map), take the 3rd exit (left), following the signs to Sabrosa/Régua/Casa de Mateus.  Follow this road for 600 m as it bends fairly sharply to the left. After the next bend (to the right), start slowing down – you’ll soon be turning left into a tiny street with a “Restaurante da Ponte” sign on the corner. Drive up this narrow two-way street, and you will find the arched stone entrance to the estate right in front of you.

WARNING: if you happen approach the estate entrance from the top (with the arched stone entrance on your left), please do not attempt to drive in from that angle – it is likely that your car will get seriously scratched. You may have to drive down the narrow street to the main road and come back up.
